HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team topped visiting Union at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall by a score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-18) on Friday night in a Gulf South Conference matchup. The Chargers improve to 17-11 (8-7 GSC), while the Bulldogs dip to 8-16 (7-8 GSC).

UAH had a successful attack overall on Friday night, posting a .301 team hitting percentage as opposed to the visitor's .108 for the match. Sophomore
Anna Claire Johnson posted a team-high 11 kills, while senior
Haley Snyder added 10 kills on a .625 swing rate.

The Chargers started the match with a 25-22 win in the opening frame for an early 1-0 lead, with freshman
Anna LeDuc leading the offense with five kills on a .333 hitting percentage in the first. Union was able to tie the match late at 22-22, before the Chargers rallied for three consecutive points to take the initial stanza.

The Blue and White continued to roll in the second set with a convincing 25-15 win in the middle frame, as UAH went on an early 4-0 rally to take a five-point lead at 9-4 en route to the set victory. Freshman
Haley Hop registered four of her team-high 14 digs on the night during the second.

A dominant third set for the Chargers keyed a 25-18 win in the stanza and a 3-0 match victory, with UAH registering a game-high .400 hitting percentage in the final frame.  Snyder compiled five of her 10 kills on the night – hitting .750 in the set – to lead the Chargers to the third set win.

UAH continues the weekend's slate tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Spragins Hall as Christian Brothers visits the Rocket City for a conference matchup.
