HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team dropped the series finale on Saturday night at the Von Braun Center by a score of 2-1 to Michigan Tech. UAH dips to 3-4-1 (2-3-1 WCHA), while MTU improves to 5-3-0 (5-3-0 WCHA).

The Chargers established some momentum in the first period by killing off nearly four minutes of a major penalty just over seven minutes into the contest, but Michigan Tech would take the lead at the 13:58 mark of the opener as Brent Baltus scored his third of the season.

The Huskies then carried a 2-0 lead into the first intermission as Joel L'Esperance scored on the power play at 17:39.

After a scoreless second, the Chargers applied strong pressure in the offensive zone to start the third and parlayed that into a five-minute major power play of their own, which resulted in Cam Knight's first career goal at 6:22 of the third period with an assist from UAH points leader Brennan Saulnier.

UAH had a second five-minute power play following the end of the initial major penalty, but the Chargers would go scoreless in that time as Michigan Tech went on to earn the 2-1 win.

Following the two-goal first period, UAH netminder Carmine Guerriero held the Michigan Tech offense scoreless, ending the night with 28 saves for the Blue and White. Guerriero, along with the defense, helped the Chargers hold MTU to one goal in six power-play chances.

The Chargers will be away from competition this coming weekend, before heading to Bowling Green on Nov. 20-21 for a two-game set against the nearest WCHA opponent.
