TWO MORE AT HOME: UAH (6-3, 3-1 Gulf South Conference) will conclude its pre-holidays slate with a Thursday visit from Shorter at 7:30 p.m. before turning around to host Lee on Saturday when the tip is slated for 4 p.m.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK: After dropping a 74-66 decision to West Alabama on Thursday night, the Chargers bounced back with a 94-84 win over West Georgia on Saturday. Preston Herring averaged 16.5 points during the two-game span, shooting 11-for-14 from the field on the week.

STANDINGS UPDATE: It may be early, but once again there is a logjam at the top of the GSC standings with the first four conference games of the season in the books. Five teams – Union, Delta State, Valdosta State, UAH, and Christian Brothers – are all tied at 3-1 to sit in a tie for first.

REBOUNDING NOTES: Herring is leading the team in overall rebounding average with a season average of 7.6, and the senior has been especially strong on the offensive glass where he is averaging 3.89 per contest which is the 17th-best mark in the country. On the defensive end, the Chargers are 18th in the country with 30.2 defensive rebounds per game.

AT THE STRIPE: The Chargers have three players in the top 25 in the conference in free throw percentage – Greg Gardner (9th, 80.6), Seab Webster (14th, 75.0), and Herring (22nd, 68.4) – and that translates to UAH currently ranking third in the GSC behind West Alabama and Delta State with a team mark of 73.4 percent at the charity stripe.

ABOUT SHORTER: The Hawks will come to Huntsville with a 5-4 overall mark, but the team is just 1-3 in conference play after dropping games to Union, CBU, and Valdosta State before knocking off West Florida its last time out. Four Shorter players are averaging double figures with Phil Taylor leading both the team and the conference with 27.8 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 4-1 all-time against the Hawks, and the one win for Shorter came a year ago in Rome. In the contest in the Tennessee Valley, the Chargers were 70-58 winners as Seab Webster led four players who scored in double figures as he tallied 17 points. Justin Ward had a double-double in the win, scoring 13 to go along with 10 rebounds.

ABOUT LEE: Owners of a 3-6 overall record and a 1-3 mark in conference play, the Flames knocked off West Florida in overtime last Saturday to snap what had been a four-game slide. CJ Reese and Keevin Tyus lead a group of four Flames who are averaging double figures, scoring 15.2 points and 15.0 point per game, respectively.

SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers have a 4-2 edge in the series with Lee, and last season, both teams defended their respective home floors. Five players reached double figures in scoring for UAH in its 75-68 win at Spragins Hall, and it was Preston Herring who led the way as he was 6-for-7 from the floor as he scored 17 points.
