DOWN IN MISSISSIPPI: The Chargers hit the road Thursday for a two-game conference slate in the state of Mississippi. The first stop on UAH's road swing is in Cleveland to take on the Delta State Lady Statesmen at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Chargers slide over to Mississippi College for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Choctaws.

WHERE THEY STAND: As the Chargers look to end their recent three-game skid, they also look to solidify their position in the GSC standings. UAH enters the week in a three-way tie for sixth among teams eligible for the postseason as Valdosta State, West Alabama and UAH are all at 7-10. The top eight teams – excluding Lee and Mississippi College – will reach the GSC tournament.

TEAM BASKETBALL: The Chargers have had a season-long focus on ball movement, and the team has risen to second in the GSC in assists. Also, with 291 assists on its 429 made shots, the Chargers lead the conference with assists on 67.8 percent of their successful field goal attempts.

FROM THE LINE: Not only have the Chargers moved the basketball well, but they have made the most of their opportunities from the free throw line. UAH has hit 75.4 percent of its free throws, placing them second in team free throw percentage in the GSC. The Chargers are also third in the league in free throws made, having knocked down 337 on the year.

ABOUT DELTA STATE: The Lady Statesmen have won nine of their last 11 games and are 11-6 in conference play leading up to the Thursday contest against the Chargers. Delta State – who is 13-8 overall on the year – averages 60.8 points per game and gives up 56.5, and Chelsea Rhodes leads the Lady Statesmen in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game which is good for fifth in the GSC.

PREVIOUS CONTEST: The Chargers fell to Delta State by a score of 67-49 on Jan. 5 in Huntsville. Josi Saunders led UAH with 14 points in 30 minutes of play, while Halle Jarnagin turned in a solid overall performance with eight points, seven rebounds and four assists. Rhandi Ball scored 18 to pace the Lady Statesmen.

ABOUT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE: The Choctaws have dropped their last six contests heading into Thursday night's contest when they welcome North Alabama holding an 8-13 (4-13 GSC) mark. Kristen Sampson and Ashley Minor are Mississippi College's key offensive threats averaging 12.4 and 11.4 points, respectfully.

PREVIOUS CONTEST: UAH ran past the Choctaws 78-60 at home back on Jan. 3. The Chargers controlled the entire game and registered three players in double figures. The Saunders twins combined for 35 points and went 15-for-24 from the floor, while Minor scored 18 to lead MC.
