PHOTOSHUNTSVILLE | The ninth-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team extended its conference winning streak to 18 games with a doubleheader sweep of Lee on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. The Chargers improve to 10-3 (5-0 Gulf South Conference), while Lee slips to 9-6 (1-4 GSC).

UAH came from behind to win 4-3 in the day's first game before romping to an 8-3 victory in the nightcap.

Sophomore
Haley Thompson played a big role in lifting the Chargers past the Flames in the day's first game as she finished the contest 2-for-3 with three RBI including a two-run double in the fourth inning that proved to be the difference in the contest.

In that frame,
Abby Roberts led off with a two-bagger of her own before being lifted for pinch-runner
Morgan Hopkins, and
Kaitlyn Bannister then gave Thompson two runners in scoring position when she made it to second on a two-base error by the Lee shortstop.

Thompson then worked the count full prior to doubling into left to put UAH in front.

UAH took the early lead in the contest as
Victoria Frith scored on a wild pitch in the first, but the Flames responded with a two-run homer from Emily Dagnan that put Lee ahead 2-1. Thompson would knot the game at 2-2 in the second with a run-scoring single, but the Flames also had an answer for that as they scored in the bottom half of the inning to go back in front 3-2.

Tyler Harrison (5-0) remained perfect on the season in the circle, lasting four innings while surrendering a pair of hits and three runs, and
Kimberly Jack tossed the final three innings to preserve the victory while earning her second save of the season.

The Chargers outhit Lee 8-2 in the first game as
Brianna Sullivan joined Thompson as both recorded a pair in the contest.

Sullivan then recorded three hits in the second contest and is now batting a team-best .455 for the season.

With the nightcap even at 1-1 after two, the Chargers blew the game open with three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to grab an 8-1 lead, and though Lee would score twice more in the sixth, UAH provided
Emily Glover (2-2) with the complete game victory as she won for the second time season.

Glover scattered four hits while giving up just one earned run and striking out three.

UAH racked up 10 hits in the contest led by Sullivan's three, while
Victoria Crumpton and Bannister also had a multi-hit game with a pair. Bannister finished the contest with a team-best three RBI including her second home run of the season, while Sullivan and Harrison also drove in two runs.

Harrison homered in the third to start the big inning, and the trio of Harrison, Bannister and
Michal Robertson all lead UAH on the year with two home runs each.

The two teams will wrap up the series on Monday as the Chargers look for another GSC sweep. The first pitch is slated for 12 p.m. at Charger Park.
