HUNTSVILLE | Visiting Alaska Fairbanks completed a third-period comeback and defeated the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Friday night 4-2 at the Von Braun Center in WCHA action. The Chargers slip to 8-21-4 (7-17-1 WCHA), while UAF improves to 16-13-2 (11-12-2).

After the Chargers scored the first two of the night, the Nanooks responded with four unanswered to take the victory.

Tyler Morley's shorthanded goal at 10:43 of the third tied the contest, and the visitors went in front with five minutes left in the game when Marcus Basara scored his second of the game to make it 3-2.

Icing the contest, Colton Sparrow scored at 16:33 of the third to create the 4-2 final.

Carmine Guerriero recorded 37 saves in the contest – including a spectacular stop early in the second period when a Colton Parayko attempt hit the post, deflected off of Guerriero's back, and landed precariously on the goal line before being scooped up by the sophomore netminder.

The 37 saves match Guerriero's third-highest total this season. He has posted 30 saves or more in 13 games this season.

UAH took the game's first advantage late in the first, tallying on the power play at 18:18 as Alex Carpenter's initial try was stopped by Sean Cahill, but Brandon Carlson was in front to bury the rebound to put the Chargers up 1-0. The goal marked the fifth of the year for Carlson, and the score was assisted by Carpenter and Cody Champagne.

Midway through the second period, the hosts went up 2-0 when freshman Josh Kestner scored his third of the year on a breakaway that was set up by Ben Reinhardt, but Basara would score his first of the night at 14:14 of the second to create a 2-1 score at the second intermission.

The Chargers managed 15 shots on goal during the series opener, led by junior Jack Prince with three. Freshman Brandon Parker totaled a team-high four blocks during the contest.

UAH will wrap up its regular season home slate on Saturday when the two teams square off at 7 p.m. to conclude the weekend series. UAH's five seniors will be honored prior to the game.
