FLORENCE, Ala. | The No. 6 University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team completed the series sweep of rival No. 24 North Alabama by a score of 11-3 on Sunday afternoon at Mike D. Lane Field. UAH is now 22-4-1 (14-4-1 GSC), while UNA dips to 21-8 (10-7 GSC).
North Alabama took an early lead off UAH starting pitcher
Dalton Goss with three runs in the bottom of the first after UAH went scoreless in the top half.
Goss would throw for just 1.0 inning with two hits allowed, before senior
Tyler Howell (2-3) came on in relief and shutdown the Lions offense with 8.0 scoreless innings with four hits allowed and five strikeouts.
The UAH offense backed up Howell with one run in the third on a sac fly by
Chandler Brock to drive in
Cody Burton from third, followed by two runs in the fourth on a
Colton Simbeck two-RBI double to knot the score at 3-3.
The following inning, the Chargers erupted for a five-run rally to take a commanding 8-3 advantage.

Trey Mathis, Brock and Simbeck each recorded RBI during the fifth, while
Ryan Barnes was able to score on an error by UNA's leftfielder Heath Wood. UAH extended the lead to 11-3 – which went on to be the final – after Walden had a two-RBI double and Cimo drove in
Ben Hall on a sac fly in the eighth inning.
UAH totaled 18 hits on the afternoon with six different Chargers recording multi-hit performances. Simbeck had the most success at the plate going 4-for-4 with three RBI and a pair of doubles.
Trey Mathis led the squad with three runs scored, while Walden, Brock and Cimo tied for second on the roster with two RBI apiece.
The Chargers finish the week on a five-game win streak, while totaling 61 runs and a .366 batting average (63-for-172) in the road swing to Lincoln Memorial and UNA.
The Blue and White have six games this coming week, beginning with a matchup against Miles in Birmingham tomorrow. Miles will then make the trip to the Rocket City on Wednesday for a doubleheader, followed by a three-game GSC series against Valdosta State on Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Charger Park.
