No. 7 Chargers Fall in Series Finale at No. 15 UNA

FLORENCE, Ala. | No. 15 North Alabama completed the series sweep of No. 7 UAH on Sunday, coming from behind to win 3-1. The Chargers slip to 23-8 (14-5 Gulf South Conference) with the setback, while UNA improves to 28-5 (13-4 GSC).

The hosts won the game with a pair of runs in the sixth inning as back-to-back singles by Brooklynn Clark and Carey Grace Peebles allowed UNA to break a 1-1 tie and go in front 3-1 to lead for the first time in the game.

Emily Glover's third homer of the season opened the scoring for the Chargers earlier in the game in the top of the fourth inning as she belted an offering from BreeAnna Blevins over wall in left to give UAH a 1-0 lead.

The home run was just the fourth of the year allowed by Blevins and only the seventh given up by the North Alabama pitching staff.

The advantage was brief, however, as UNA's Brittany Gillison homered with one out in the home half of the frame to the contest at 1-1, and a scoreless fifth followed to setup the sixth in which North Alabama won the game.

Tyler Harrison was strong in the circle for the visitors, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing just two hits and the one run while striking out a pair, and it was Kimberly Jack (9-3) who took the loss in the contest, entering in relief in the sixth.

Hits in the contest were even with both teams recording five, but the Chargers did get on base three more times than the host Lions as UAH drew four walks in the game compared to just one for UNA.

Glover had the best day at the plate for UAH, going 2-for-3 with the homer, and Abby Roberts matched her with a two-hit performance.

The Chargers will return to action on Tuesday when the team travels to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to take on Stillman in a non-conference doubleheader. The twinbill is set for a 2 p.m. start.
