PHOTOSHUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team outlasted Christian Brothers on Monday night, winning 82-73 in a contest that featured 11 lead changes and 10 ties. UAH improves to 11-4 (8-2 Gulf South Conference), while CBU slips to 7-9 (5-5 GSC).

With Delta State falling at Shorter on Monday, UAH is once again alone on top of the GSC standings.

Leading a group of five players who scored in double figures for the Chargers was
Preston Herring as the senior was 6-for-10 from the floor en route to scoring 15, and he added four rebounds and three steals for good measure.

Seab Webster scored 12 points in the first half en route to finishing the night with 14, and freshman
Tanner Finley was once again strong from beyond the arc as he buried four 3-pointers to score 12. Adding 11 was
Troy Saxton, and
Brandon Roberts chipped in with 10.

Greg Gardner dished out a team-high eight assists, helping UAH record 21 helpers on 21 made baskets.

UAH held as much as a four-point lead in the opening half while CBU held an advantage that was as large as five points in the stanza, but it was the Chargers who went into the locker room with the score tilted in their favor at 37-35.

An 11-4 run to start the second half pushed UAH out to its biggest margin to that point at 48-39 with 16:16 left in the game, but CBU countered with a 13-2 run that put the visitors back in front by a pair at 52-50 by the 13:07 mark.

UAH, however, would dominate the next 10 minutes, outscoring the Bucs by a 24-10 clip to go ahead by 12 en route to securing the victory.

For the contest, UAH shot 43.5 percent overall but was 11-for-26 (42.3 percent) from long-range, while CBU hit 48.2 percent of its attempts while shooting just 32.1 percent on 3-point tries.

The Bucs – led by Jeff Larkin's 21-point showing and Alex Trenmant's 11-point, 12-rebound double-double – also outrebounded UAH by a 39-33 margin.

A significant difference in the game was the production by the team's benches as UAH's reserves tallied 28 points, while CBU's managed just seven.

The Chargers will now turn their focus to rival North Alabama as UAH ventures to Florence on Saturday for a 3 p.m. contest at Flowers Hall.
