FLORENCE, Ala. | A strong fourth quarter push lifted The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team to a rivalry road win on Saturday as the Chargers knocked off host North Alabama 63-55 at Flowers Hall. UAH improves to 9-6 (6-5 Gulf South Conference), while UNA slips to 2-14 (1-9 GSC).
 
Josi Saunders scored 14 to lead the Chargers in the victory, and she was joined in double figures by 
Dina Saunders who added 12 and 
Chandler Elder who chipped in with 10.
 
Halle Jarnagin had a team-best eight rebounds in the victory, and in the process she became just the third player in program history to reach 600 career rebounds as the senior now has 602.
 
With UNA holding a 54-49 lead with 5:06 left in the game, the Chargers proceeded to hold the hosts scoreless for more than four minutes while going on an 11-0 run that saw 
Dina Saunders tie the contest at 54-54 with 2:30 left before 
Josi Saunders put UAH up for good at the 1:51 mark.
 
A comeback did not seem to be needed early as the Chargers started off on fire, jumping out to a 13-2 lead just under three minutes into the contest, and it was a nine-point advantage for the visitors at the end of the first quarter as UAH was in front 25-16. UNA, however, outscored UAH 12-6 in the second quarter to create a 31-28 margin tilted towards the Chargers at the half.
 
The lead would expand back to six for the Chargers who were ahead 37-31 with 6:20 left in the third quarter, but a 7-0 run over the next two minutes for North Alabama allowed the Lions to take their first lead of the game at 38-37.
 
UNA would go in front by as many as six towards the end of the third quarter before UAH's fourth-quarter comeback.
 
For the contest, UAH shot 41.8 percent while holding North Alabama to a 33.9 field goal percentage, and the Chargers also won the battle on the glass by a 41-34 margin.
 
Elise Holden came off the bench to lead UNA with 15 points, helping the Lions hold a 15-11 advantage in bench points.
 
UAH will return to action on Thursday evening when Valdosta State visits for a 5:30 p.m. contest. In the earlier meeting between the two teams this season, VSU was a 62-53 winner.
