HOUGHTON, Mich. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team lost to Michigan Tech by a final score of 7-3 on Friday night in the opening game of a two- game WCHA series. UAH slips to 2-3-0 (2-1-0 WCHA), while MTU improves to 1-4-0 (1-2-0).

Turning Point
- Michigan Tech's offense came out strong in the opener, potting three first-period goals en route to the 7-3 win. MTU's first-period goals were scored by Mark Auk at 11:40, Dylan Steman at 11:55, and Shane Hanna at 14:18.

Inside the Box Score
- The Huskies offense carried over its first period success, with three more goals in the second with goals by Jake Lucchini at :26, Chris Leibinger at 7:01 and Reid Sturos at 12:32.
- Freshman Brandon Salerno got the Chargers on the board with his first career goal at 2:08 of the third. He was assisted by Jordan Larson and Brandon Parker on the tally.
- Michigan Tech added another goal in the third by Alex Smith at 7:41 of the third to make it a 7-1 Huskies lead.
- Junior Max McHugh netted his team-leading third goal of the season at 14:33 of the third. He was assisted by Huntsville native Josh Kestner and Parker on the play.
- Larson also scored for the Blue & White during the third period to bring the game to the 7-3 final. Cody Champagne and Matt Salhany were credited with assists on the goal.
