UAH Drops Series Opener at No. 10 St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team dropped the series opener at No. 10 St. Cloud State by a final score of 5-1 on Friday evening at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in the first game of a two-game set. UAH slips to 2-6-1, while SCSU improves to 3-2-0.
 
Turning Point
- After a 1-1 tie through 40 minutes of play, St. Cloud State broke through with a total of four goals in the third by Ryan Poehling at 3:22, Judd Peterson at 4:07, Patrick Newell at 4:50, and Blake Winiecki at 8:06.
 
Inside the Box Score
- St. Cloud State jumped on the board first as Jake Wahlin notched the contest's first goal at 8:09 of the initial frame.
- The Chargers rebounded with one goal in the second at 7:51 by Huntsville native Josh Kestner, until SCSU managed the game-turning four goals in the third period.
