UAH Slips in Series Finale at No. 10 St. Cloud State

ST CLOUD, Minn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team lost the nonconference series finale at No. 10 St. Cloud by a final score of 5-2 at Herb Brook National Hockey Center on Saturday night. UAH slips to 2-7-1, while SCSU improves to 4-2-0.
 
Turning Point
­- After UAH notched an early 1-0 lead in the first, St. Cloud State proceeded to score a total of four unanswered tallies in the second to lead 4-1 after 40 minutes.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Huntsville native Josh Kestner registered the first goal of the game at 13:41 of the first - an unassisted tally – to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead after one period of play.
- However, St. Cloud State notched four goals in the second by Patrick Newell at 2:07, Blake Winiecki at 11:05, Jake Ahcan at 13:23 and Ryan Poehling at 19:37.
- UAH chipped into the SCSU lead at 10:02 of the third as Cam Knight slimmed the Huskies' advantage to 4-2.
- Later on in the third, the Huskies' Judd Peterson brought the game to its 5-2 final with the contest's final goal at 13:41.
- Jordan Uhelski played the full 60 minutes in goal for UAH with a game-high 24 saves in the loss.
- The Chargers went 0-for-4 on the power play, while holding SCSU to one goal in six power-play opportunities.
 
Noteworthy
- Knight's goal in the third was his first of the season and second of his career.
- Kestner now leads the UAH offense with seven points on three goals and four assists.
- Uhelski has made the past three starts in goal for UAH, which is the longest string of starts for the junior.

- UAH returns to action next weekend with a trip to Alaska Anchorage next Friday and Saturday night. Puck drops at 10:07 p.m. CST for both WCHA contests next weekend.
