Narke Scores Another Pair in Tough Loss at Union

JACKSON, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team unfortunately dropped another one-goal contest in the closing minutes, falling on an 88th minute goal to yield a 3-2 decision to host Union on Friday night. The Chargers drop to 3-7-0 (1-2-0 Gulf South Conference), while the Bulldogs improve to 4-7-0 (2-3-0 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-After a furious second-half effort tied the game and nearly put the visitors in front, Union's Cole Asfour dispensed of any potential extra time being necessary when he scored in the 88th minute to put the hosts in front 3-2.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Union score the game's first two goals, tallying in the 38th and 54th minutes to go in front 2-0.
-Less than two minutes after the second Bulldog goal, however, James Narke found the back of the net for the Chargers to cut the deficit in half.
-Narke would score again, tying the contest in the 81st minute to cap off a stretch that saw UAH produce numerous scoring chances. The goal was assisted by Corentin Diverres.
-After the shots were even at 7-7 in the first half, UAH outshot the home side 8-4 in the second half to hold a 15-11 advantage for the game. The Chargers also enjoyed a 9-8 advantage in shots on goal.
-Hermann Bjornsson was matched by Guy Clennett and Diverres in firing off four shots, and Bjornsson paced the team with three attempts that were on frame.
-Myles Fullen took the loss for UAH in goal, stopping five of the eight Union shots that were on target.
 
Noteworthy
-Narke's goals represent his fifth and sixth of the season, and all six of his scores have come in the team's past six games. The performance marks his second two-goal showing of the season.
-Narke has taken over the team lead in scoring, leading the team in goals with his six and in points with 12.

-Corentin Da Mutten – who was on the GSC's Top Newcomers list in the preseason – made his first career start and played 77 minutes.
-Fullen's five saves moved his season total to 41.
-The setback marks the fourth this year that UAH has taken in the final five minutes of regulation or overtime.
 
Next Time Out
-UAH will aim to bounce back when the team travels to Christian Brothers for a 3 p.m. contest on Sunday in Memphis.
