Chargers Fall in Double Overtime in Memphis

MEMPHIS | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker on Sunday, falling in double overtime by a 2-1 score to host Christian Brothers. The Chargers slip to 3-8-0 (1-3-0 Gulf South Conference), while CBU improves to 5-5-0 (1-4-0 GSC).

Turning Point
-Xavi Lao scored in the 104th minute to break what had been a 1-1 tie since the 68th minute.

Inside the Box Score
-UAH opened the scoring as Corentin Diverres took a pass from Tucker Watts and put it into the back of the net in the 35th minute, giving UAH a 1-0 lead that would lead through halftime.
-The hosts then leveled the contest in the 68th when Bernado Ferreira scored to create a 1-1 tie.
-Diverres would be sent off for his second caution of the contest in the 69th, leading the Chargers to play with 10 men for the duration of the affair.
-CBU finished the contest with an 18-7 advantage in overall shots, and the Bucs also held a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.
-UAH earned seven corners on the afternoon compared to five for the Bucs.
-Myles Fullen stopped four shots while taking the loss in goal for the Chargers.
-Daniel Buchanan led the Chargers with a pair of shots including a golden opportunity to net the game-winner just seconds before the CBU goal in the 104th.

Noteworthy
-Diverres scored his first career goal, becoming the second Charger this season to log his first collegiate goal this season.
-An indicator that UAH's record is not representative of the team's season, Sunday's loss is the seventh one-goal loss of the year and is the team's third setback in double overtime.
-The 2-1 final is the fifth time this season a UAH game has ended with that scoreline.

Next Time Out
-UAH returns to Huntsville for the final home weekend of the year, and the two-game set will start with a Friday visit from Shorter. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Charger Park.
