Chargers Drop Series Finale at UConn

HARTFORD, Conn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team dropped the series final at Connecticut by a final score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the two-game, nonconference tilt. UAH slips to 2-2-0, while UConn improves to 2-0-0.
 
Turning Point
- UConn's offense started strong yet again on Saturday afternoon, as the Huskies took the early advantage with two goals in the opening period by Tage Thompson at 3:50 and Spencer Naas at 18:52.
 
Inside the Box Score
- The Chargers were able to quell the Huskies offense in the middle period as the neither team was unable to score in the frame, but UConn broke through with in the third stanza with two more goals by Evan Richardson at 13:09 and Naas at 16:21 en route to the 4-0 win.
- UAH goalie Matt Larose saw his record dip to 2-2-0 with the loss, despite totaling a game-high 28 saves in the contest.
- The Blue and White put a total of 23 shots on goal, paced by defenseman Cam Knight with four. Knight was followed by four different Chargers with three shots on goal apiece.
- The Chargers held the Huskies to zero goals in two power-play opportunities.
- Senior captain Brent Fletcher led UAH in the face-off circle, going 11-for-20 in the series finale.
 
Noteworthy
- Matt Larose has totaled 20 or more saves in each game thus far in 2016-17.
- The Chargers next nonconference series will be against NCHC affiliate St. Cloud State on Oct. 28-29 in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
