UAH Falls to UWF, Tops Tuskegee on Senior Day

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team fell to West Florida 3-0 (23-25, 12-25, 12-25) and topped Tuskegee 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-10) to wrap up the 2016 season at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Saturday. UAH finishes the year 16-15 (8-12 GSC), while UWF improves to 24-8 (17-3 GSC) and TU slips to 12-17.

Game One 
Turning Point
- After a tightly contested first set, West Florida took control of the contest with 25-12 victories in the second and third frames for the three-set victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Sophomore Anna LeDuc led the Chargers attack with 10 kills on a .412 hitting percentage in addition to two service aces, followed by Rachel Brugman with six kills.
- Senior Shelby Traff paced the defense with nine digs, with Haley Hop following with eight scoops.
- Kirsten Giles recorded a team-high 29 assists.
 
Noteworthy
- Traff posted her third game with nine or more digs against a South Region opponent.
- Anna LeDuc now has 13 contests this season with 10 kills or more and has topped a .400 hitting percentage three times.
 
Game Two
Turning Point
- After earning wins by scores of 25-20 and 25-19 in the first and second set, respectively, UAH cruised to the three-set win in the third stanza on a 25-10 victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Freshman Ali Lowe registered a team-high nine kills on a .294 hitting percentage to go with three block assists.
- Giles had another strong overall game with five kills, 22 assists, two service aces and four digs.
- Kerri Whittaker anchored the defense with a team-high seven digs.
- Addie McGee paced the defense with four total blocks.
 
Noteworthy
- Brugman – one of two UAH seniors honored on Saturday – recorded the final kill in the third set in the final match of her career in the Blue & White.
- Lowe matched her season-high of nine kills which was set earlier this year against Miles (9/30).
