FLORENCE, Ala. | The 10th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team used a second-half push to blow past rival North Alabama on Sunday in the conference opener, winning 91-79Â in the road game. The Chargers improve to 5-1 (1-0 Gulf South Conference), while UNA slips to 4-2 (0-1 GSC).

-A 9-0 run for UAH near the midway point of the second half keyed by points from

Michael Gilmore put the Chargers in front for good as the visitors outscored UNA 41-29 in the second half en route to the victory.

Brandon Roberts led a quartet of Chargers who scored in double figures as he was a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point land on his way to scoring 20 points, and he also led the team on the glass as he grabbed eight rebounds.

-In a first half that saw the team hit 10 3-pointers, the Chargers jumped out to a 10-point lead at 22-12 thanks to a trey from Gilmore – the team's sixth to that point – at the 14:51 mark of the opening period.
-North Alabama then proceeded to go on a 19-8 run to gain its first lead of the night at 31-30 with 8:11 left in the half, and UNA would go up by seven at 50-43 with 2:12 remaining.
-The Chargers then scored the game's next seven points including a tip-in at the buzzer by
Tanner Finley that knotted the contest at 50-50 as the teams went into the locker room at the break.
-UNA would start the second half strong, going in front 58-53 just under four minutes into stanza, but the Chargers would then roll off a 23-10 run over the next eight minutes to enjoy a 76-68 lead with 8:08 remaining.
-The lead would balloon to as many as 15 points down the stretch as the Chargers sealed the victory.

-The 20 points for Roberts marks his season-high and is tied with
Troy Saxton's showing on Nov. 12 against Saint Leo for the second-best offensive performance of the season for a Charger.
-The 12 3-pointers made by UAH are the most by the Chargers in a game this season.
-The performance by Elliott marks a career-high for the junior.
-Sunday's game marks the third straight in which the Chargers have rebounded the opposition, and the team has won all three games by double figures.
