Chargers Drop Series Finale to Ferris State Sunday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team dropped the WCHA series finale to visiting Ferris State by a final score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Von Braun Center. UAH slips to 5-11-2 (5-7-2 WCHA), while FSU improves to 6-10-1 (5-6-1 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- The Bulldogs benefitted from a hot start on Sunday afternoon, as Ferris State totaled two goals in the first period en route to the 3-1 victory in the finale at the VBC.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Ferris State started the scoring quickly in the finale as Jared VanWormer netted the first goal of the contest 34 seconds into the first period for the 1-0 early lead.
- Just under 10 minutes would pass until Taylor Fernandez struck to extend the visitors lead to 2-0 on a tally at 10:14 of the first.
- After first intermission, the Chargers were able to dig into the Bulldogs lead with a power-play marker by junior Brandon Parker at 10:19, thanks to assists by sophomore Cam Knight and fellow junior Max McHugh.
- With a 2-1 lead after the second break, Ferris State extended its lead to the eventual 3-1 final with a tally by Mitch Maloney at 1:43.
- Jordan Uhelski's record fell to 3-4-2 in goal after totaling three goals allowed and a game-high 30 saves in the loss.

- Cody Champagne and Parker tied for the team lead in blocks with four apiece.

- Knight has totaled at least one point in eight of his last nine appearances.
- Uhelski has amassed 30 saves or more on three occasions.
