UAH vs. Mississippi College
Saturday, Feb. 13 | 2 p.m. | Kelly Court at Spragins Hall
Live Stats | Listen Live | Watch LiveBACK AT HOME: The Chargers return to Kelly Court at Spragins Hall this week after a two-week road trip, and UAH brings an 11-10 (8-9 Gulf South Conference) record into the pair of contests. The team will welcome Delta State on Thursday for a 5:30 p.m. tilt and will then host Mississippi College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Â
RECAPPING LAST WEEK: UAH fell in both road contests last week, narrowly dropping a 61-60 decision at Lee before taking a 66-58 setback at Shorter in a game that saw freshman
Baylee Johnson score a team-best 24.
Â
AROUND THE GSC: The conference slate is heading towards its conclusion with just five games left, and if the postseason started today, the Chargers would own the sixth seed in the conference tournament and travel on Super Tuesday to one of Delta State or Lee who are tied with 13-4 records presently. UAH is a game ahead of Valdosta State and Christian Brothers who both are 7-10.
Â
FANTASTIC FRESHMAN: Johnson currently sits third on the team with a scoring average of 9.4 points per game, and she scored a season-best 24 this past Saturday at Shorter to give her seven games this year in which she has scored in double figures. The Cullman, Alabama, native also is third on the squad with 2.0 assists per game.
Â
FROM THE FIELD: After shooting better than 40 percent in four of the team's last five games, the Chargers are now shooting 41.8 percent for the season. That mark is good for fourth in the conference, just a tenth back from Shorter who is third in the league at 41.9 percent.
Â
ABOUT DELTA STATE: The Lady Statesmen enter Thursday's game with a 16-4 record, and the team is currently tied for second with a 13-4 record. Chelsey Rhodes leads the team – and the conference – in scoring with 19.8 points per game, while Becca Ruckes features a team-best rebounding average of 6.2 boards per contest.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: DSU now owns an 18-4 edge in the all-time series with UAH after the Lady Statesmen were victorious by a 57-46 score on Jan. 4 in Cleveland. In that contest, four Chargers led the team with nine points.
Â
ABOUT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE: The Choctaws head into play this week at 5-15 (3-14 GSC), and are just 1-8 in road games ahead of Thursday night's contest at North Alabama. Kristen Sampson paces the squad with 14.9 points per game to go along with a team-best 3.4 assists per contest.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: UAH took a 5-2 lead in the all-time series with MC when it won 64-51 in Clinton, and it was
Dina Saunders who led the Chargers in scoring on that day as she scored 22.
