HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team completed the Gulf South Conference series sweep of West Alabama by a final score of 7-6 on Saturday afternoon at Charger Park. UAH improves to 11-2 (3-0 GSC), while UWA slips to 4-5 (0-3 GSC).

Kaitlyn Bannister paced the Chargers on offense with a 3-for-4 performance in the sweep-clinching victory, while smacking one home run, scoring one run and driving in two.

UAH fell behind UWA early into the contest on Saturday as West Alabama plated three runs in the top of the second to take a 3-0 advantage. However, the Chargers would bounce back with a four-run second, highlighted by a two-RBI double by
Sarah Jordan, to overtake the Tigers advantage for a 4-3 lead.

The Blue and White continued to add to their lead with a three-run second, with Bannister providing a two-run homer and
Abby Roberts scoring on a passed ball.

West Alabama went on to add three runs in the fourth to bring the game to its eventual 7-6 final, but
Tyler Harrison provided a stellar 3.0 perfect innings of relief with six strikeouts. Harrison improves to 6-2 on the season with her performance.

UAH will remain at home for the following week with a nonconference doubleheader slated for Friday against Truman State at 1 p.m., before jumping back into league play with a visit from Lee for a three-game set on Saturday and Sunday.
