Chargers Down Rockhurst in Saturday Matchup

KANSAS CITY, Mo. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team defeated Rockhurst by a score of 16-12 on Saturday afternoon at Bourke Field in the program's second-ever contest. UAH improves to 2-0 on the year, while Rockhurst slips to 0-1.

The Hawks controlled the contest at the midway point of the first half with a 7-3 lead over the Chargers, as Natalie Pachinger scored once and Megan Hart scored twice to lead the offense up to that point.

However, UAH rebounded to score seven unanswered goals in the latter part of the second half to own a 10-7 advantage through 30 minutes, highlighted by two additional tallies for Pachinger and a pair of goals by reigning GSC Freshman of the Week Nicole Federovitch.

Following the break, Federovitch continued her offensive success with two early goals at 26:52 and 23:20, which were followed by a pair of goals by Rockhurt at 20:24 and 16:59 to keep it a three-goal lead for UAH at 12-9.

Federovitch would strike again with markers at 14:17 and 13:01, which would give her a game-high six goals in the contest and a total of 13 on the inaugural season. The Chargers would add two more goals by Hart and Hartnett over the final 12 minutes of play, with the Hawks adding three of their own in that span to bring the game to its 16-12 final.

UAH benefitted from a trio of stellar performances on offense, including Federovitch's team-high nine points from six goals and three assists while Hart and Pachinger had season-highs with four goals and three goals, respectively. Hart also added a game-best seven draw controls.

Defensively, Haleigh Comp improved to a 2-0 record in net for the Blue & White after providing a season-high 11 saves in the victory on Saturday. Hartnett helped the defensive effort with two of the Chargers seven caused turnovers.

UAH wraps up the weekend's slate of games with a trip to Belleville, Illinois tomorrow afternoon to take on Lindenwood-Belleville at 1 p.m.
