GULF SHORES, Ala. | The 18th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team picked up a pair of wins on day two of the Gulf Coast Invitational, defeating McKendree 12-6 and Spring Hill 6-1. The Chargers improve to 6-2 on the season with the pair of wins.

UAH will wrap up the weekend on Sunday, taking on Rockhurst at 9 a.m. before battling Flagler at 11:15 a.m.

UAH 12, McKendree 6Â
The Chargers outhit McKendree 13-6 and scored in all but one of six innings on the way to scoring more than 10 times for the fourth time this season.

Five players had a multi-hit game against the Bearcats, with freshman
Taylor Wascavage leading the way with three hits and a walk to go along with two runs and an RBI.

Brianna Sullivan,
Savannah Smith,
Tyler Harrison and
Abby Roberts also recorded a pair of hits, and it was Smith's triple in the first that started the scoring for the Chargers as she drove in Sullivan who had led off the home half of the first with a double.

Jada Hayes and Wascavage also had hits for extra bases as both recorded a double in the contest.

Earning the win in the circle was
Kimberly Jack who tossed 4.1 innings of relief, allowing just two hits while striking out a pair. Starter
Emily Glover struck out four.

UAH out jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but McKendree scored a run in the second and four more in the third to go ahead 5-2. Wascavage then doubled in a run in the bottom half of the third, and Hayes knocked in a pair in the fourth to tie it at 5-5.

The Bearcats briefly regained the lead with a run in the fifth, but a three-run home half and a four-spot on the board in the sixth for the Chargers created the 12-6 final.

UAH 6, Spring Hill 1Â
Harrison went the distance in the circle for UAH in the day's second game, striking out five while scattering three hits and allowing just one run against the tournament's host.
Â
Her strong performance in the circle was backed up by her two-hit game at the plate, and
Kaitlyn Bannister matched her with a pair of hits including a solo home run – her second of the season – in the fifth inning.

Harrison had a double as did Wascavage.

The scoring started for UAH in the second when Wascavage reached on an error, allowing
Sarah Jordan to score, but the Badgers knotted the game up at 1-1 in the top of the fourth.

The Chargers immediately answered back as Sullivan singled in Wascavage in the home half to make it 2-1 before Bannister's homer in the fifth gave the Chargers a two-run cushion, and Bannister added to UAH's lead when she drove in another two runs in the sixth.

Harrison knocked in UAH's sixth and final run.
