ELKINS, W. Va. | In its highest scoring output of the inaugural season, The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team cruised to a 23-2 win at Davis & Elkins on Wednesday afternoon to finish off the three-game road swing. UAH improves to 10-2, while DEC slips to 1-3.
The Chargers offense was paced individually by
Nicole Federovitch with six goals, followed by
Bekka San Souci's four tallies in the contest.
Natalie Pachinger added four points on two goals and two assists while posting a team-best four ground balls and four draw controls.
After early goals by each side, the UAH offense took control of the nonconference matchup on Wednesday as the Blue and White rallied for 12 unanswered goals to take a 13-1 lead into the break.
Federovitch notched five of her six goals in the opening frame, with Pachinger posting her two goals and two assists in the initial 30 minutes. The Chargers defense also excelled throughout the first half, allowing just two shots on goal.
UAH's offensive onslaught would carry into the early going of the second half with goals by San Souci at 25:11, Federovitch at 22:20 and
Elizabeth Brown at 20:18, prior to the Senators Jessica Kerns ending the Chargers string of goals at 15 straight and cutting the lead to 17-2 at 15:25.
The Chargers quickly rebounded as
Emily Wiegand scored two goals in the ensuing two minutes, with the Blue and White totaling seven unanswered tallies over the final 15 minutes en route to the 23-2 victory.
Huntir Cramer added two goals during that span as well.
Haleigh Comp improved to 10-2 in net for the Chargers with two saves, and was benefitted by a staunch UAH defense that limited DEC to just four shots on goal overall.
UAH will be away from competition for the following 15 days, before jumping back into Gulf South Conference play at home against Montevallo on April 8 and Young Harris on April 9.
