UAH Routs Montevallo 18-5 at Charger Park

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team routed Montevallo 18-5 in a Gulf South Conference matchup at Charger Park on Friday evening to open the week's slate. UAH improves to 11-2 (2-0 GSC), while UM slip to 6-9 (0-2 GSC).
 
The Chargers offense was paced by Nicole Federovitch with a game-high six points on five goals and one assist, while Natalie Pachinger and Bekka San Souci each added four points from three goals and one assist. Pachinger also recorded a team-best four draw controls in the win.
 
UAH took the first lead of the game on a goal by Federovitch 36 seconds into the matchup, but Montevallo was able to respond with a tally by Jami Hudak at 28:38 to tie it at 1-1.
 
The Blue and White proceeded to score the next five straight goals over the ensuing 10 minutes of play to own a 6-1 lead over UM, with Federovitch highlighting the rally with an additional two markers.
 
Montevallo cut the lead to 6-2 with a goal from Lexie Wright at 14:46, prior to the Chargers ending the first half on a run of seven unanswered tallies to take a 13-2 lead into the break. San Souci added two of her three goals on the afternoon in the rally, while Megan Hartnett, Rachel Hejduk, Federovitch, Pachinger and Emily Wiegand each posted one goal before the end of the opening period.
 
After intermission, the Falcons recorded the first goal of the second half at 27:04 by Jessica Cullver to slim the UAH advantage to 13-3. However, the Blue and White went on to add five straight goals compared to Montevallo's two over the last 24 minutes of the period en route to the 18-5 victory.
 
Five different Chargers would score in the final 30 minutes as Brown, Megan Olivia Hart, Federovitch, Pachinger, and Wiegand notched second-half tallies.
 
Goalie Haleigh Comp improved to 11-2 in net with six saves in the victory.
 
UAH wraps up the regular-season home slate and Gulf South Conference play tomorrow at Charger Park against Young Harris. The contest is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
