HUNTSVILLE | The No. 3 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Christian Brothers on Saturday, winning 17-0 in five innings in the first game before taking an 11-4 decision in the nightcap. UAH improves to 20-3 (10-1 Gulf South Conference), while CBU slips to 6-15 (2-9 GSC).

The two teams will wrap up the series on Sunday with a single game slated for 1 p.m. at Charger Park.

The Chargers pounded out 13 hits in the contest with eight different players hitting safely and nine others picking up RBI.

In a game full of strong performances, both
Taylor Wascavage and
Kaitlyn Bannister picked up three hits with
Lexi Beach notching a pair, and both Bannister and Beach drove in four runs in the contest.

Wascavage and
Abby Roberts both knocked in a pair of runs.
Â
UAH also drew nine walks in the contest including three collected by
Bridgette Wilson.

Tyler Harrison tossed 4.0 innings and gave up just one hit and no walks while striking out five in moving to 12-2 on the season, and
Rachel Burden tossed a perfect inning of relief.

Of UAH's 13 hits, seven were for extra basses as Bannister and Roberts both belted home runs, while Wascavage and Beach both had a pair of doubles with Bannister adding another two-bagger.

The Chargers scored in each of the team's four innings offensively, scoring three times in the first, four more in the second, one in the third and an impressive nine times in the fourth as 14 batters went to the plate for UAH.

UAH's bats were again on fire in the nightcap as the hosts outhit CBU 15-5, but the team had to come from behind to complete the sweep of the day as after Roberts drove in a run in the first to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead, the visitors scored three times in the second and added another in the third to go in front 4-1.

Back-to-back jacks from Wascavage and Bannister the home half of the third pulled UAH to within one, and another two-run inning sparked by run-producing hits from Wascavage and Harrison in the fourth put the Chargers ahead 5-4.

Bannister's home run gives her a team-best six on the year, and she also now has the team lead with 29 RBI.

Savannah Smith and
Haley Thompson drove in a run each in the fifth to give the Chargers three straight two-run innings, and the scoring for UAH was capped off by a two-run homer from Roberts and a two-run double from Smith in the sixth.

Roberts and Smith both finished the contest with three RBI, while Wascavage added another pair.

Each of Wascavage, Bannister, Roberts, Jordan, Smith, and
Jada Hayes had two hits in the game.
