HUNTSVILLE | The No. 3 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team has now won 20 of its last 21 games as the team swept visiting Tuskegee on Tuesday afternoon, winning both games in five innings by scores of 8-0 and 12-0. The Chargers now are 23-3, while Tuskegee slips to 2-20.
Â
UAH returns to action this weekend when conference play continues for the Chargers as they welcome West Florida to Charger Park. The doubleheader on Saturday is slated for a 2 p.m. start, and the series concludes with a 1 p.m. single game on Sunday.

The Chargers established the tone for the day from the start as
Tyler Harrison worked a quick 1-2-3 inning in the top of the first before the UAH offense quickly put a five-spot on the board in the bottom half of the inning with
Kaitlyn Bannister,
Bridgette Wilson, and
Jada Hayes producing the run-scoring hits including Hayes' 3-run single that capped off the inning.
Â
Hayes had an outstanding contest as she was 2-for-2 with five RBI in total after driving in another pair of runs in the third before
Haley Thompson doubled her in to produce the ultimate 8-0 final.
Â
Wilson also had a pair of hits in the game.
Â
Harrison improved to 13-2 on the year in the circle as she also tossed her 11th complete game and fourth shutout of the season, and the Mobile, Alabama, native struck out six while walking none.
Â
Harrison now has 100 strikeouts this season, and she is the first at UAH to reach that mark since Whitney Gilbert struck out 122 in 2012.

UAH 12, Tuskegee 0Â
The bats which pounded out seven hits in the first game proceeded to rack up 11 hits – several of which were of the quite loud variety as UAH totaled four home runs in the nightcap.
Â
After a pair of scoreless innings and after Thompson had singled in the game's first runs, three of the next four batters homered for the Chargers in a seven-run third inning.
Â
Reigning GSC Freshman of the Week
Taylor Wascavage had the first long fly with a two-run shot, and then after
Brianna Sullivan laid down a perfect bunt for a hit, Bannister belted a mammoth shot well over the scoreboard in left to put the Chargers up 5-0.
Â
Producing back-to-back jacks,
Abby Roberts then homered to left-center.
Â
Bannister's home run was her seventh of the year, while Wascavage and Roberts both recorded their fourth.
Â
Bannister matched the showing from Hayes in game one as she would record a three-run double later in the game, and
Rachel Burden also got in on the action as she homered in the fourth for UAH's last two runs of the 12-0 win.
