YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The second-seeded University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team topped Shorter 17-9 in the semifinal matchup on Saturday night on the opening day of the Gulf South Conference invitational tournament. UAH improves to 14-3, while SU finished the season at 3-10.
UAH now moves on to play first-seeded Young Harris on Sunday at 12 p.m. CST in the finals.

Natalie Pachinger led the Chargers with four goals apiece, followed by
Huntir Cramer with three goals and one assist to tie Federovitch and Pachinger for the team lead in points with four.
The Chargers were first on the board in the opening period with a goal by Pachinger at 28:30, prior to the Hawks' Crystal Marshall evening the score at 1-1 at 26:14.
Cramer was able to give UAH a 2-1 edge with her first of the day at 22:38, but Shorter proceeded to rally for three goals to overtake the Chargers lead at 4-2 with 18:35 remaining in the half.
However, the Chargers went on to outscore the Hawks 10-1 over the final 18 minutes – including 10 unanswered goals by UAH – to maintain a 12-5 lead through the opening fame.
UAH struck first again in the second half as
Megan Olivia Hart netted two of her three goals in the initial five minutes at 27:50 and 25:09, helping the squad to a 3-1 run over the first 10 minutes of the second against Shorter to give the Chargers a 15-6 advantage.
A pair of tallies by Tiffany Kongpachith at 19:32 and 14:33 drew the Hawks within seven, but
Elizabeth Brown notched goals at 1:20 and 0:50 to push the lead to 17-8. Shorter's Marshall scored one late goal with 35 seconds to go to bring the game to its 17-9 final.
Freshman
Haleigh Comp improves to 14-3 in net in 2016, after playing the full time in goal with six saves. Hart helped the defensive effort with a team-best three draw controls and four ground balls.
