HUNTSVILLE | The No. 11 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team dropped the series finale to No. 4 North Alabama on Sunday at Charger Park, falling 4-0 to the conference leaders. UAH slips to 31-9 (17-7 Gulf South Conference) with the setback, while UNA improves to 37-5 (21-3 GSC).
Â
Raven Cole held the Chargers to just two hits on the day with
Kaitlyn Bannister and pinch-hitter
Lexi Beach earning those, but the home team did draw four more walks as both
Brianna Sullivan and
Abby Roberts drew free passes.
Â
Picking up the loss in the circle for UAH was
Tyler Harrison who scattered nine hits while giving up the four runs, but only three of the tallies for UNA were earned by Harrison.
Â
The junior struck out five UNA batters to run her season total to 140.
Â
North Alabama's first run came in the top of the first inning, and the Chargers would threaten in the home half thanks to Bannister's two-out double – her team-best two-bagger of the season – and subsequent walk by Roberts before Cole struck out Harrison to end the threat.
Â
The Lions then scored a run in each of the second, fifth, and sixth innings, but the Chargers were unable to get two baserunners in an inning again until the seventh.
Â
UAH will now step out of conference play when Miles visits Charger Park on Thursday.
