Â
Turning Point
-
Alexcia Alexander put the Chargers in front in the 53rd minute when she took
Sydney Pfankuch's throw-in and clanked it off the far post, across the front of the goal, and eventually in for the first score of the game.
Â
Inside the Box Score
-Alexander then provided the home side with insurance in the 82nd minute when she took a great ball from goalkeeper
Larae Breaux and put it past the Tusculum goalie for her second goal of the game.
-Breaux made four stops en route to posting her second consecutive shutout after also blanking Montevallo on Thursday night.
-UAH held a strong 16-10 edge in total shots in the game, and the Chargers also earned a 6-4 advantage in shots that were on target.
-Corners in the contest were even at 3-3.
Â
Noteworthy
-For Alexander, the multi-goal performance is the sixth of the junior's career and her first since logging a hat trick against Oakwood last season on Sept. 14.
-After scoring 10 in her freshman season and eight last year, Alexander now has totaled 20 goals for her career.
-Breaux has now not allowed a goal since the 35th minute of the Carson-Newman contest which represents a span of 235 minutes.
-Breaux's assist on the second UAH goal is the first assist by a Charger keeper since Iris Gunnarsdottir picked up a helper on a goal against Montevallo on Sept. 17, 2013, and it represents the first point for a UAH goalie since Gunnarsdottir scored on Oct. 11, 2013, against Delta State.
-With her assist on UAH's first score, Pfankuch now leads the team with five points. Three Chargers –
Melody Hoernschemeyer,
Alexcia Alexander, and
Arieal Alexander – are tied for second with four points on the year.
Â
