FINAL NON-CONFERENCE PAIR: The UAH men's soccer team will play its final non-conference games of the regular season this weekend, traveling to Auburn Montgomery for a 7 p.m. contest on Friday before turning around to host Palm Beach Atlantic on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. UAH enters the pair of contests at 1-4 after earning a victory over King last Saturday.
Â
FUTURE GSC OPPONENT: While AUM is a non-conference foe this season, it was announced this summer that the program will be transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division II, and future games against the Warhawks will be conference tilts as they will become members of the Gulf South Conference.
Â
REWARDED: Hermann Bjornsson currently leads the GSC in shots with 22 on the year, but he had not been rewarded for his efforts since scoring in the season opener until the King contest in which he tallied a pair of goals including the game-winner. His three goals on the year is tied for seventh in the league and leads the Chargers.
Â
STRONG IN GOAL: Sophomore keeper
Myles Fullen has been consistent in goal for the Chargers this season, and he presently ranks second in the GSC with 20 saves while his 1.90 goals against average ranks third in the conference.
Â
ABOUT AUBURN MONTGOMERY: The Warhawks enter Friday night at 2-5-0 on the year, and the team is presently on a four-game slide. Simon Van Rheeden paces the team offensively with three goals, and each of those scores came in AUM's 4-3 victory over Mississippi College.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 4-4-0 all-time against AUM, but the two programs have not met since the 1993 season. The Chargers took the first four games in the series, while Friday's opponent won the next four.
Â
ABOUT PALM BEACH ATLANTIC: The Sailfish come to Huntsville with a 4-2-1 record and are winners of two consecutive after defeating Florida Southern and Florida Memorial by identical 4-0 scores. Charlie Dennis leads the team offensively with five goals and two assists for 12 points, and the team's two-keeper tandem is paced by Elliott Barker who is 3-0-1 with a 0.26 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: Sunday's meeting represents the first-ever between UAH and PBA. The Sailfish have recently transitioned to Division II and are members of the Sunshine State Conference.
