MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team cruised to victory on Sunday afternoon, rolling past host Auburn Montgomery 5-0 to remain unbeaten in Gulf South Conference action. The Chargers improve to 4-4-0 overall and 3-0-1 in GSC play, while AUM slips to 0-10-0 (0-3-0 GSC).

Turning Points
-The scoring started early for the Chargers as
Jordan Wright scored just in the fourth minute as he rocketed it past the AUM keeper from long-range, and the score would remain 1-0 through the remainder of the opening 45 minutes.
-The flood gates opened for the Chargers in the second half as
Connor Smelser scored from
Corentin Diverres to make it a 2-0 game in the 50th minute, and
Gunnar Birgisson – who had assisted on Wright's opening strike – had Wright return the favor for a score in the 70th to put UAH up 3-0.

Shane Woodruff scored in the 81st for UAH's fourth goal, and
Deivi Bucio set up
Connor Young to complete the scoring in the 89th creating the 5-0 final.

Inside the Box Score
-UAH held a wide 23-5 advantage in shots including a 12-2 edge in shots that were on frame, and the Chargers pressure earned the team 14 corners compared to just three for the hosts.
-Diverres led all UAH players with five shots, and his team-high two shots on goal were matched by Wright and Bucio.

Myles Fullen picked up the win in goal for the Chargers while recording a save.

Noteworthy
-The five goals are a season-best for the Chargers, and they represent the best scoring output since UAH scored seven times against Spring Hill last season on Oct. 23.
-The five scores match a GSC-best on the season as West Alabama scored five also against AUM while West Florida notched that total against Delta State.
-Wright's goal is his fifth of the season, and he now owns a team-best 11 points on the year. The senior is also second in the GSC in both goals and points.
-Diverres ranks second on the team with six points after logging his second assist of the season.
-The goal for Birgisson is his first of the year, and he now owns four points.
-Smelser, Woodruff, and Young each record their first collegiate goals.
-UAH is now just one of two unbeatens in the GSC, joining Montevallo who is 1-0-1 in league play.

-The Chargers will be back in action next Friday when they travel to league-leading Mississippi College. The Choctaws dropped a GSC match for the first time this year on Sunday when they fell at home to Union.
