THE HOME OPENER: The UAH women's basketball team will open up its home slate on Thursday night, welcoming Trevecca Nazarene for a 5:30 p.m. contest before then returning to the road on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest at Oakland City. The Chargers enter the weekend at 2-0.

LAST TIME OUT: The Chargers opened the regular season last weekend in Florence, knocking off Lynn 69-46 and Kentucky State 64-52, and that marks the first time since the 2013-14 season that UAH has started the year off with a pair of wins.

HOT START: Baylee Johnson was terrific in the first two games of the year, averaging 21.5 points per contest while shooting 57.1 percent as she went 16-for-28 from the field. The Cullman, Alabama, native was especially strong in the victory over Kentucky State as she scored a career-best 28 while knocking down 10 of her 17 attempts from the floor.

CRASHING THE BOARDS: The Chargers outrebounded both of their opponents last weekend, averaging 43.5 per contest which is a mark that is significantly better than the 32.6 per game the team averaged last year. Chandler Elder leads the team with 8.0 per game, while Katie Speegle is grabbing 7.0 per outing.

TOUGH D: Through the season's first weekend, the Chargers feature the top scoring defense in the Gulf South Conference, and the 49.0 points per game given up represents the 14th-best mark in Division II. This, too, marks a strong improvement over last year when UAH gave up just over 68 points per contest.

ABOUT TREVECCA NAZARENE: The Trojans are 1-1 on the year after falling 71-57 to Drury and defeating Quincy 69-61 in double overtime. With 19.0 points per contest, Callie Hackett leads the team offensively, while Brittin Boyer is scoring 8.0 points per game while grabbing a team-best 9.5 rebounds per contest.

SERIES HISTORY: After the two teams split the season series last year, TNU now leads the series by a 4-2 clip. In last year's meeting in Huntsville, the Trojans were 69-58 winners in a game that saw Johnson knock down four 3-pointers en route to leading the Chargers with 20 points.

ABOUT OAKLAND CITY: The Lady Oaks are 0-2 on the year and will host Wayne State on Thursday night before welcoming the Chargers on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers hold a 13-10 edge in the all-time series with Oakland City, and Saturday's contest will mark the first meeting between the two programs since Feb. 20, 2012.
