STARTING FRESH: The UAH women's basketball team will begin the 2017-18 regular season with games on back-to-back days, taking on Lynn at 6 p.m. on Friday before turning around to face Kentucky State at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday with both games in Florence on the campus of North Alabama. UAH will then conclude its exhibition slate with a 5:30 p.m. showdown at Tennessee Martin on Monday.

LAST TIME OUT: The Chargers battled Jacksonville State in an exhibition tune-up on Sunday, putting up a strong fight against the Division I foe. UAH led for a big chunk of the first half after outscoring the hosts 14-13 in the first quarter, and the team was only outscored by six in the second quarter and three in the fourth quarter.

HAVE A DAY: Senior Chandler Elder turned in a solid performance against the Gamecocks as she went 6-for-11 from the field and 5-for-5 at the free throw line en route to scoring 18 points while also grabbing four rebounds and collecting two steals. A year ago, Elder was second on the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game while grabbing a team-best 7.4 rebounds per contest and recording six double-doubles.

CLEANING THE GLASS: UAH grabbed a 36 rebounds in the game at Jacksonville State, and the boards were quite evenly distributed across the team as Loren Foster and Aryn Sanders both grabbed a team-best six while each of Baylee Johnson, Morgan Tipton, Allie Bolton, and Elder snagged four in the game.

ABOUT LYNN: The Fighting Knights have played a pair of exhibition contests, defeating Ave Maria 65-55 and falling to Division I opponent Florida Atlantic 79-67. Lynn was picked to finish 10th in the Sunshine State Conference, and the team is coming off a 10-17 season a year ago in which the squad was 3-12 in games away from Boca Raton.

SERIES HISTORY: Friday's meeting will be the first-ever between the two programs.

ABOUT KENTUCKY STATE: The Thorobrettes feature a pair of preseason all-SIAC selections in Brittani Rizzi and Brooke Wallace, and the squad has been picked to finish second in the SIAC's West Division. In the team's lone exhibition, KSU knocked off Division I member Tennessee State 84-83 on a Lyndsey Downing jumper with four seconds remaining.

SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers are 3-2 all-time against the Thorobrettes, but the two teams have not met since Dec. 30, 2006.

ABOUT TENNESSEE MARTIN: The Skyhawks played one exhibition to start the year, defeating Lindsey Wilson 97-42, and the program will open up its regular season at Southern Illinois on Friday. The contest on Monday counts as a regular season game for the Skyhawks, but it will be an exhibition for the Chargers.
