UAH Slips in Series Opener at Northern Michigan

MARQUETTE, Mich. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell 3-1 in the WCHA series opener at Northern Michigan on Friday night at Berry Events Center. UAH dips to 5-9-1 (4-4-1 WCHA), while NMU improves to 8-7-0 (6-3-0 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- After UAH pulled ahead on a goal at 9:17 of the second by Christian Rajic, Northern Michigan turned the tables with shorthanded markers in the second period by Troy Loggins at 16:55 and Adam Rockwood at 18:48 on the way to the 3-1 win for the Wildcats.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- The Chargers were first on the scoreboard as Christian Rajic tipped in a rebound on the power play at 9:17 of the second, thanks to helpers by Connor Merkley and Tyler Poulsen.
- NMU evened the score at 1-1 on Loggins marker at 16:55 of the second, before Rockwood gave the Wildcats a 2-1 lead at 18:48 of the same period.
- The Wildcats pushed the lead to 3-1 on a power-play goal at 5:03 of the third on a goal by Zach Diamantoni which would stand as the contest's final.
