RINGING IN THE NEW YEAR: The UAH women's basketball team will close out the calendar year at home, welcoming Oakland City in the final non-conference game of the season at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Chargers will then hit the road to the Magnolia State, battling Delta State at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday before venturing to Mississippi College for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Thursday. UAH carries a 7-3 (2-2 Gulf South Conference) record into the week.

LAST TIME OUT: UAH last played on Dec. 18 when the team held on for a 73-72 victory over Shorter in overtime in Huntsville. UAH was led by Chandler Elder's 25 points and a double-double from Aryn Sanders who logged 16 points and 14 boards.

ELDER SURGING: Since GSC play started against Montevallo on Nov. 29, Elder has averaged 15.4 points per game while shooting 50 percent both overall and from 3-point land. Additionally, she leads the team with 13 steals during that stretch and is tied with a team-best 12 assists in that five-game span. On the year, Elder is averaging a team-high 13.4 points per contest to go along with a rebounding mark of 7.4 per game that also leads the Chargers.

ON THE BOARDS: The Chargers have outrebounded the opposition in five games on the season, and in those contests UAH is a perfect 5-0. UAH is also outperforming that which it did on the glass a year ago, averaging over 38 rebounds per game this year after grabbing 32.6 per game last season.

AT THE STRIPE: UAH ranks fifth in the conference in free throw shooting, making its attempts at a 71.6 percent clip. Katie Speegle has been especially impressive at the line as she has missed just one of her 20 tries to register a 95.0 percent success rate.

ABOUT OAKLAND CITY: The Lady Oaks visit Huntsville with a record of 4-6 after having a two-game winning streak snapped by a 96-54 setback to Missouri St. Louis.

SERIES HISTORY: After winning in the Hoosier State earlier this year, UAH now holds a 14-10 advantage in the all-time series. In the victory on Nov. 18, both Baylee Johnson and Speegle led the Chargers with 17 points.

ABOUT DELTA STATE: DSU enters the new year at 4-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play, and the squad will be playing just its fourth home game where the team is 2-1 on the year. Alondrea Rush is scoring 14.9 points per contest to lead the Lady Statesmen offensively.

SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers are 6-19 all-tie against Delta State after both teams defended their home floor a year ago. In Cleveland last season, Delta State was a 64-53 winner.

ABOUT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE: MC heads into the upcoming stretch at 4-6 (1-4 GSC) and will have visits from Tougaloo and North Alabama prior to UAH's arrival on Thursday. Five different players are scoring in double figures for the Lady Choctaws with Kelley Allen's 12.8 points per game leading the way.

SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers are now 6-4 against MC all-time after the Lady Choctaws swept the season series last year. Last year in Clinton, UAH fell by a 75-65 score in a game that saw both Loren Foster and Johnson score 16 points.
