HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team swept Delta State on Saturday, winning 1-0 behind a masterful pitching performance in the series opener and then taking the nightcap 6-5. The Chargers improve to 19-9 (9-5 Gulf South Conference), while DSU slips to 11-14 (5-9 GSC).

The two teams will wrap up the series on Sunday with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at Charger Park.

Tyler Harrison retired the first 13 Lady Statesmen she faced and earned her sixth win of the season by allowing just one hit while striking out seven and walking none in the complete game shutout.

Reagan Malone belted a three-run homer in the bottom of what was a four-run fourth inning for the Chargers, and though it gave UAH a 5-0 lead at the time, the big blast would prove to be quite important after DSU scored five times late.

-Delta State outhit the Chargers in the nightcap by an 11-10 with both DSU's Madison Zoeller and UAH's Malone having a three-hit performance in the game.
-Bannister went 2-for-4, with the other hits for UAH coming from Harrison,

Sarah Jordan, and
Ashley Cornell.

-After Glover got out of a jam that saw Delta State have runners at second and third with none out in the top of the third, the Chargers scored the first run of the game when Harrison singled in Bannister who had reached on an error that put her in scoring position.
-UAH then had a big fourth with Jordan doubled in a run prior to the Malone home run making it a 5-0 lead.
-The Lady Statesmen got on the board for the first time on the day in the fifth when Jordan Jones doubled in a pair, but the Chargers had an immediate answer when Long's triple plated Jewell for what would be the eventual game-winning run as the guests scored three times in the sixth to create the 6-5 final.

-The save for Harrison marks the first for any Charger pitcher this year.
-Glover now has 78 strikeouts on the season while Harrison owns 76 to help the UAH staff total 169 on the season.
-By not walking any in either contest, the Chargers have now had 11 games this season in which their pitchers have not issued a walk.
-Malone's homer is her second of the season which is tied for third on the team, and she now has 16 RBI to rank fourth on the squad.
