HUNTSVILLE | The No. 16 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team dropped its home game with Florida Tech on Tuesday, falling 2-1 to move to 17-6 on the season. The Panthers improve to 11-12.

Game Changer
-Neither team was able to produce a run until the sixth when Florida Tech pushed across a pair – only one of which was earned – and then limited the Chargers to just one of their own in the bottom half to create the ultimate 2-1 final.

Emily Glover went 5.2 innings in taking the loss, and she gave up just three hits and the two runs while striking out seven and walking a pair.
-UAH outhit the visitors by a 4-3 margin with the hits for the Chargers coming from Kaitlyn bannister,
Tyler Harrison,
Brooke Miller, and
Ashley Cornell.
-The Chargers stole a pair of bases in the game with Bannister and
Shannon Long both having one.

Key Plays
-Neither team had a hit through the first four innings with Florida Tech's Audrey Gangloff picking up the game's first with a leadoff single in the fifth, and though she was sacrificed into scoring position at second, Glover retired the next two to keep the game scoreless.
-UAH's first hit of the contest also came in the fifth when Cornell singled to short with a pair of outs.
-The Panthers got on the board in the sixth when a one-out triple followed by a single through the left side produced the pair of runs, and UAH pushed its run across when Bannister scored after singling and moving to second on
Taylor Wascavage's sacrifice bunt which allowed her to score on Harrison's base hit.
-UAH would get another base runner in the inning, but FIT would strand the pair on base to preserve the eventual victory.

Â-Harrison now ranks third on the team with 15 RBI.
-Bannister has now featured a batting average above .500 for 11 straight games, and with the single on Tuesday, she now has a hit in seven straight games.

-The Chargers return to action this weekend when the team travels to West Florida for a three-game set. Saturday's doubleheader to start the series is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
