SAINT LEO, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team dropped its opening game at the 2017 NCAA Division II South 2 Regional, with the third-seeded Chargers falling 7-4 to the No. 6 seed Lee. UAH slips to 41-16, while the Flames go to 34-18.

UAH will now play the No. 2 seed and host Saint Leo on Friday at 2 p.m. CDT in an elimination game.

SLU lost 10-4 to North Alabama in eight innings on Thursday.

Game Changer
-The Flames picked up six of their 13 hits in the fourth inning and scored four times, turning a 4-3 deficit into a 7-4 advantage that they would not relinquish.

-UAH had seven hits in the game with two coming from both
Emily Glover and
Brooke Miller, while
Reagan Malone,
Ashley Cornell, and
Kaitlyn Bannister had the others for the Chargers.
-Five different players for Lee had a pair of hits in the game with each of Stevie Baird, Courtney Crawford, Taylor Moran, Leigh Beatenbough, and Kayla Louie doing so.
-Moran earned the win in the circle for the Flames, pitching 5.1 innings in relief while allowing three hits and just one unearned run.
-Charged with the loss for UAH was
Tyler Harrison, and she was relieved by Glover who tossed 3.2 innings of one-hit ball while striking out a pair.

-After Lee got on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the first, the Chargers were able to cut the lead in half with Cornell solo shot in the bottom frame, and UAH went ahead in the second when Miller belted a two-run, two-out homer to give the Chargers a 7-4 advantage.
-The Flames tied the contest in the top of the third though a strong throw from
Sarah Jordan got the potential go-ahead run at the plate, and that allowed UAH to go up 4-3 in the bottom frame when Glover poked one through the left side to score Bannister.
-After the big frame for Lee in the top of the fourth, the teams combined for just four more base runners in the game as Moran retired the last 12 Chargers she faced.

-The Chargers match a season high by turning a pair of double plays in the contest.
-The home run for Miller is her seventh on the season which ranks second on the team, and Cornell's homer is her second of the year.
