No. 6 West Florida Earns 4-0 Win Over UAH Sunday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team dropped its Sunday contest with No. 6 West Florida, falling 4-0 at Charger Park. The Chargers slip to 3-3-0 (2-2-0 Gulf South Conference), while UWF improves to 5-0-0 (2-0-0 GSC).

Turning Points
-The game was a scoreless affair through the first 30 minutes, but UWF's strong forward pressure finally resulted in a goal for Victoria Swift in the 31st, and the contest would remain 1-0 through the half.
-The Argos then took firm control of the game just out of the break as Leonie Kreil scored in the 47th and Jessica Quixley scored in the 51st to quickly make it a 3-0 game.
-Shantell Thompson added a late score in the 89th to create the 4-0 final.

Inside the Box Score
-UWF outshot the home side 19-3 including a 10-1 margin in shots that were on goal, and the Argos also built up a 13-1 edge in corners.
-Baylie Spring, Riley Ridegeway, and Arieal Alexander recorded the shot attempts for the Chargers, and it was Spring's effort that was on frame.
-UAH keeper Megan Buford made six stops in goal in the setback.
-A total of 25 fouls were whistled in the game, and there was one booking.

Noteworthy
-The Chargers were shut out for just the second time this season and for the first time since the season-opening 1-0 setback to McKendree.
-UAH is now 2-2 on the season at Charger Park.
-The Chargers are now one of five teams in the league that have a pair of conference wins, so UAH is tied for fourth after two weekends of conference action.

Next Time Out
-UAH continues GSC action this Friday night, welcoming in-state rival North Alabama to Charger Park. The 7 p.m. contest represents the final regular season GSC contest against UNA as the Lions are departing the league after this academic year.
