No. 16 UNA Uses Early Goal to Hold Off UAH

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team battled tough, but an early goal for No. 16 North Alabama proved to be the difference in a 1-0 contest at Charger Park on Friday night. The Chargers slip to 3-4-0 (2-3-0 Gulf South Conference), while UNA improves to 6-1-0 (5-0-0 GSC).

Turning Points
-In just the fifth minute, Kristen Sinden's corner was headed in by Beatriz Fernandes to produce the only goal of the contest.
-The Chargers controlled play for long stretches in the contest and nearly found the equalizer, including during a strong 10-minute segment starting in the 57th when the hosts outshot UNA by a 4-1 clip including a pair of attempts that were on target from Riley Ridgeway.
-UAH had another strong opportunity in the 72nd when the team earned a corner, but Sydney Pfankuch's ball was put high over the crossbar by Brynn Colvin.

Inside the Box Score
-North Alabama held a 20-15 edge in shots, while also maintaining a 9-5 advantage in attempts that were on goal.
-The Lions also put together a 5-3 edge in corners.
-Ridgeway paced UAH with four shot attempts, and three of those efforts were on goal.
-Megan Buford made eight strong stops in taking the setback in goal for the Chargers.

-The four shots for Ridgeway represent a season-high for the senior, and the three shots on target are also a season-best for the Athens, Alabama, native.
