HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Sunday, knocking off visiting Tusculum by a 3-1 score at Charger Park. The Chargers improve to 1-1 on the year, while the Pioneers slip to 1-1.

Turning Points
-UAH opened the scoring just 20 minutes into the contest when a corner off the foot of
Sydney Pfankuch was buried from just in front by
Mia Penton, and the Chargers would take a 2-0 lead into the break at the half thanks to
Baylie Spring's goal from
Riley Ridgeway in the 34th minute.
-The game remained 2-0 until the 72nd minute when Tusculum's Elise Gallo scored, but just two minutes later in the 74th, the Chargers would once again lead by a pair as the team was awarded a penalty kick that
Lauren Mayer converted to create the eventual 3-1 final.

Inside the Box Score
-Shots in the contest were even at 8-8, but the Chargers held a 6-4 advantage in attempts that were on frame.
-The Chargers also enjoyed a 7-4 margin in corners on the afternoon.
-Pfankuch had two of UAH's shots to pace the team as five other Chargers fired off an attempt.

Megan Buford made three stops in picking up the victory while moving to 1-1 on the year in goal.

-The 34th minute goal for Spring marks the first of the Franklin, Tennessee, native's career, and the victory for Buford is the freshman keeper's first.
-Mayer's successful PK also represents her first collegiate goal.
-For the sophomore Penton, he score is the second of her career, and it is her first since scoring against Delta State on Sept. 30 of last year.
-The Chargers were awarded just one penalty kick in last year's 17 games.
