WEEKEND AHEAD: The Chargers enter the weekend with a 4-1 record as the squad looks ahead two matches apiece on Friday and Saturday in the Emmanuel College Tournament. UAH kicks off the weekend on Friday at 8 a.m. against Southern Wesleyan (2-3) and at against Clark (0-0), followed by contests on Saturday against Texas A&M International (0-4) at 10:30 a.m. and Emmanuel (0-3) at 1 p.m.

OPENING STRONG: UAH opened the season at home with a pair of 3-0 victories over LeMoyne Owen and Auburn Montgomery this past Thursday and Friday, respectively, before suffering its first loss of the season by a 3-1 score to Harding last Friday night. However, the Chargers rebounded with two more 3-0 victories over Tuskegee and Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday to give the squad a 4-1 record as they enter their road slate. Through the initial five contests, UAH boasts a team hitting percentage of .248 while limiting opponents to a .071 swing rate.

NEWCOMER IMPRESSES: Huntsville native
Abby Brooks enjoyed a successful first weekend of collegiate play, as she owns a GSC-leading .452 hitting percentage with 23 kills through five matches. Brooks' strongest performance this season came against Auburn Montgomery (Sept. 1) when she posted nine kills with a .412 hitting percentage while chipping in three block assists on defense.

KILLING IT: Anna Claire Johnson leads the Chargers through four appearances with 37 kills and a 3.08 kills per set average in addition to tying for the team lead in service aces with
Anna LeDuc with seven apiece. Johnson's 37 kills are followed by
Lorah Yonce with 24 successful swats and Brooks with 23 as the squad's top three attackers thus far in 2017.

ON THE BLOCK: The Chargers accumulated 28 total blocks in five matches this past weekend, led by sophomore
Caroline Sanford and junior
Lorah Yonce with 13 total block assists. Entering the Emmanuel College Tournament, Sanford owns GSC-best 1.30 blocks per set while Yonce rates third with 1.08 blocks per set.

LOOKING AHEAD: After this weekend's slate, the Chargers look ahead to a total of six matches next week, beginning on Monday in Birmingham, Alabama, with matchups against Miles at 4 p.m. and Talladega at 5 p.m.
