CLEVELAND, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team fell on the road on Tuesday night, dropping a 62-50 contest at Delta State. The Chargers slip to 9-4 (2-3 Gulf South Conference) with the setback, while Delta State improves to 6-7 (4-1 GSC).

-After the Chargers had pulled to within five with 13:15 left in the game, the Statesmen went on a 9-2 run that put the hosts up by 12, and DSU then allowed UAH to pull no closer than six the rest of the way.

Chayse Elliott led the Chargers with 16 points while also grabbing a team-best six rebounds, and he was joined in double figures by
Tanner Finley who scored 10.
-Matching the rebounding performance of Elliott was
Kip Owens who also collected six in the game.
-PJ Davis led Delta State as he scored 20 while also registering six rebounds and blocking three shots.
-For the game, the Statesmen outshot the Chargers by a 41.1 percent to 34.8 percent clip, and the home team also won the rebounding battle by a 38-33 margin.

-The lead would exchange hands four times in the opening half with the Chargers enjoying a pair of one-point leads, but Delta State would go on a 16-6 run over 7:31 to push out to a 23-14 lead at the 6:30 mark of the stanza.
-The visitors then outscored the Statesmen 10-6 over the final 6:18 of the half to pull within five at 29-24 by the time the teams went into the locker room at the break.
-Finley hit a 3-pointer for the first bucket in the second half, cutting the UAH deficit to just two, but the hosts then scored eight of the next 10 points to go up 39-29 at the 16:02 mark of the period.
-The Chargers narrowed the gap to as little as five later in the period, but Delta State eventually pushed the lead out to 17 on its way to securing the victory.

-Tuesday marks the third time this season that Elliott has led the Chargers in scoring, and the senior now is averaging 12.4 points per contest which is second on the team.
-Owens now has at least five boards in three straight for the Chargers, and he ranks second on the squad with 5.5 rebounds per game.
