UAH Tripped Up by No. 25 Barry in South Region Crossover Finale

ORLANDO, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team completed play at the 2018 South Region Crossover on Saturday with a 3-1 loss (19-25, 20-25, 25-20, 18-25) to No. 25 Barry in a nonconference meeting. UAH dips to 19-8 overall, while BU rises to 22-2.
 
Turning Point
- After UAH slimmed the match deficit to 2-1 with a 25-20 win in the third set, Barry Jumped out to an 18-11 lead in the fourth frame on the way to the victory-clinching 25-18 win in the stanza.
 
Inside the Action
- The first set was close throughout the majority of the frame until Barry separated from UAH with a late 4-0 run which helped the Bucs take the early lead on a 25-19 win.
- Barry carried its momentum into the early going of the second set with a six-point swing for a 12-5 advantage en route to the 25-20 win to lead 2-0.
- The Chargers closed out the third set with a 4-0 rally to force a fourth set with a 25-20 win in the third.
- The Bucs accrued runs of 4-0 and 5-0 in the fourth set, aiding the team in the victory-clinching 25-18 win in the frame.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Anna LeDuc paced the Chargers offense with a team-high 13 kills on a .242 hitting percentage to go along with six digs on the defensive end.
- Isabelle Barnes followed LeDuc on the attack with 12 kills. Barnes additionally tied for the team lead in total blocks with four.
- Haley Hop anchored the Blue & White's defense with a roster-best 20 digs.
- Sabrina Duncan registered a team-high 25 assists in addition to tying for second on the team with seven digs.
- Abby Brooks tied for second on the squad with seven digs, while Lorah Yonce also tied for second with four total blocks.
 
Noteworthy
- The Chargers now have a trio of players with 200-plus kills this season, including Barnes (245), Brooks (204) and LeDuc (203).
- This is the first time since 2015 that the Chargers have had three players with 200 or more kills.
