HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team will open up play at the 2018 Gulf South Conference Men's Soccer Championships on Tuesday night as the No. 3 seed, welcoming sixth-seeded West Alabama to Charger Park. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.

UAH is making its sixth straight tournament appearance, and the Chargers will be looking for their fourth semifinals appearance in that time frame.

The winner of Tuesday night's contest will take on the No. 2 seed West Florida on Friday in Montgomery, Alabama, at the Emory Folmar Soccer Complex.

The Chargers earned the third seed in the tournament after going 9-6-1 overall and 7-3-1 in conference play during the regular season, and UAH will be looking to capitalize on earning the home game as the team has gone 7-2-0 this season at Charger Park.

UAH has been led on the season by sophomore scoring sensation and First Team All-GSC choice Rafa Moreno who has tallied 13 goals including four game-winners this season after transferring to UAH from Davis & Elkins where he scored 12 times last year as a freshman.

Second Team All-GSC honoree Guy Clennett and Khalil Bell have also been strong offensively for the Chargers, scoring seven and five times, respectively.

Defensively, Myles Fullen has posted five clean sheets in goal for UAH, and thanks to a defensive unit that includes All-GSC selection Ethan Wilson, the Chargers rank third in the conference by allowing just 1.25 goals per game.

Tuesday night's contest will be a rematch of the final game of the regular season that saw the Chargers travel to Livingston and rock West Alabama by a 4-1 score.

In that game, Clennett opened the scoring with a goal late in the first half, and with First Team All-GSC performer Vicente Arratia helping out by picking up three assists, the visitors would score three times in 20 minutes to go up 4-0 late before the Tigers added a goal in the game's waning moments.

West Alabama posted a 7-7-2 overall record and a 5-5-1 mark in GSC play during the regular season and were led by Ali Brador's 12 goals.

The Tigers went 1-5-0 away from Livingston.

Admission on Tuesday night at Charger Park will be $5, while UAH students will get in free courtesy of UAH Student Life.

The game will also be available on YouTube Live along with live stats at uahchargers.com.
