UAH Opens Series at Alaska Fairbanks with 3-1 Victory


FAIRBANKS, Alaska | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team opened a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series on Friday night with a 3-1 win at Alaska Fairbanks at the Carlson Center. UAH improves to 1-10-0 (1-4-0 WCHA), while UAF dips to 1-8-2 (1-3-1 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- After a 1-1 tie following 20 minutes of play on Friday, UAH scored a pair of unanswered goals in the second and third period to secure the Chargers first win of the 2018-19 season.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- The Chargers were first on the board on Friday as Jack Jeffers made it a 1-0 UAH lead at 4:35 of the first thanks to assists by Christian Rajic and Jesper Ohrvall.
- UAF knotted the game at 1-1 with a goal by Hope Kylar at 14:42 of the first.
- UAH regained the lead in the second at 11:23 with a tally by Bauer Neudecker for a 2-1 advantage. Both Connor Merkley and John Teets notched assists on the play.
- Madison Dunn supplied the Chargers third goal of the night at 1:25 of the third period – assisted by Austin Beaulieu – to bring the game to its final score of 3-1.
