HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team erased what was once a 14-point deficit but ultimately dropped a 69-65 decision in a non-conference game against Anderson at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Wednesday evening. The Chargers slip to 4-4 on the year, while AU improves to 7-2.

-After the Chargers pulled to within two with just under four minutes left in the game, the guests would score six of the next 10 points down the stretch to seal the victory.

-A pair of Chargers logged double-doubles in the game including leading scorer
Katie Speegle who was 9-for-12 from the field on her way to scoring 19 points while also grabbing 13 rebounds, and
Aryn Sanders knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to aid her in scoring 15 in addition to snagging 10 boards.
-For good measure, both Speegle and Sanders dished out four assists, and putting a bow on a solid overall effort, Speegle also swatted away three shots.

Baylee Johnson scored 15 to round out UAH's double-figure scoring contingent.
-For the game, UAH shot 43.9 percent from the field while limiting the Trojans to a shooting mark of 39.4 percent.
-Anderson won the battle on the glass, picking up 42 rebounds to UAH's 39, and the visitors turned that into a key 11-2 difference in second-chance points.

-After the hosts grabbed an early lead, Anderson slipped in front at the 8:14 mark of the opening quarter, eventually establishing as much as a nine-point lead in the period before taking a 19-11 advantage into the second quarter.
-The lead would grow to as many as 14 for the Trojans in the second quarter before the Chargers whittled the deficit down to 37-27 at the halftime break.
-Anderson would go ahead by 12 at 39-27 of the third quarter, but a 23-10 run by the Chargers that saw UAH go a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor over a six-minute span and that was punctuated by a Sanders triple put the home team ahead 50-49 with 1:36 left in the quarter.
-The Trojans snagged a 51-50 lead going into the fourth, and though the final frame would start with the lead exchanging hands four times, after Anderson went ahead 56-55 with 8:56 left in the game, the team was able to maintain its lead the rest of the contest.

Noteworthy
-The double-double for Speegle is her second of the season and the third in her career, and the 19 points match a season-best for the junior.
-Speegle now has 10 blocks on the year, and she ranks first in the Gulf South Conference with 1.3 per game.
-Sanders also records her second double-double of the season, and her four assists are a personal-best this year.
