UPCOMING MATCHUP: UAH opens its 2018 campaign on Sunday on the road at Birmingham-Southern for a 4 p.m. matchup in the Magic City. Sunday's contest will be the first meetings between the two programs.
 
LOOKING BACK: The Chargers ended their second season of existence with a 14-5 overall record and a 7-1 mark in Gulf South Conference play, while reaching the GSC invitational final for the second straight season. Head coach Gail Wallach returns 23 players from the 2017 squad, including four of the team's All-GSC honorees.
 
PROLIFIC SCORING: UAH finished as the NCAA scoring leader for the second straight season after totaling 17.32 goals per game which was increase from 2016's 16.33 goals per contest that also led the nation. The Chargers offense has been led for the past two seasons by reigning GSC Offensive Player of the Year Nicole Federovitch, who enters her junior campaign with 165 career points from 134 goals and 31 assists.
 
BETWEEN THE PIPES: Leslie Allen Brown returns for her sophomore season after starting a total of 18 games in goal for the Chargers, accumulating a .386 save percentage and a 10.45 goals against average as a freshman. Brown ranked second in the conference with her 10.45 goals against average last season.
 
LOOKING AHEAD: Following this Sunday's matchup at BSC, UAH looks ahead to the start of the GSC slate with a trip to reigning GSC invitational champion Young Harris next Saturday at 12 p.m.
 
PANTHERS PROFILE: Birmingham Southern is coming off a 6-10 season in the 2017 campaign, while going 3-4 within its Southern Athletics Association schedule. Natalie Daniel is the leading offensive returner for the Panthers with 70 points (61g-9a) last season for head coach Logan Harris.
