UPCOMING WEEKEND: The Chargers (1-0) open Gulf South Conference play at Young Harris (1-0) on Saturday at noon CT in a rematch of the past two season's GSC invitational final matchup. UAH is 1-4 all-time against YHC, with the two teams splitting the season series in 2017.

RECENT ACTION: UAH started the 2018 campaign with a stellar offensive display in the 25-10 win this past Sunday at Birmingham-Southern, which is the third-highest scoring output in program history. UAH has won its season-opener in each of its three seasons of existence.

LEADING THE WAY: Senior
Alanna Carvalho garnered her first career GSC Offensive Player of the Week honor for her performance in the season-opener on Sunday, as she led the squad with eight points on six goals and two assists against BSC. Carvalho – an All-GSC honoree in 2017 – is coming off a junior season in which she ranked third on the offense with 36 points from 28 goals and eight assists.

SOPHOMORES SURPRISE: A trio of sophomores in
Kinta Schott,
Abbey O'Brien and
Shannon Kruse had strong performances in the season-opener at BSC, paced by Schott who tied for the team lead in both goals and draw controls with six of each on Sunday. Both O'Brien and Kruse tied for second on the roster with three goals apiece.

LOOKING AHEAD: After Saturday's start to GSC play, UAH looks ahead to its first home game at Charger Park in 2018 as Lee visits for a 4 p.m. game on Wednesday, Feb. 21. UAH outscored Lee a combined 55-9 in two games last season.

MOUNTAIN LIONS PROFILE: Young Harris heads into the matchup on Saturday with a 1-0 record overall and in GSC play following a 19-2 win at Shorter to open its 2018 season last Saturday. The Mountain Lions were led by Rachel Lepine in the win with three goals and one assist, while Rachel Robb and Julia Darroch split time in goal against the Hawks.
